In Australia, counsellors hold recognised qualifications (diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s) and belong to professional bodies such as the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or PACFA. Unlike psychologists, counsellors aren’t regulated by AHPRA, but reputable counsellors operate under strict ethical codes and supervision requirements.
